You've been told that leaking is "normal" after having kids, but deep down you want it to stop.

You've been told to "just relax" before having sex, but every time someone utters that to you, you think "if it was that easy, wouldn't I be doing it?!"

You've been dealing with constipation ever since you could remember, have tried every elimination diet, and still can't get to the root of why you can't let it go.

Imagine finally realizing these issues are not "just in your head."

Imagine learning that there actually IS a reason why these things are happening.

Imagine no longer buying into the garbage rhetoric that your body gives up on you after a certain age or life experience ...and finally getting answers other than "it just is what it is."

And, best of all, imagine finally being able to do something about it!

You know the "pelvic floor" is important cuz you're hearing it all over the damn place, but you have no idea what it is, what it does, how to work it...not to mention you're sitting there like "how the heck do you actually do a kegel anyway?!"

Beyond Kegels is my DIY virtual course that teaches you all about one of the most important parts of your body that you have no idea how to condition: the pelvic floor. Your mom never told you about it, your friends never told you about it, even your MD never told you about it: that's where I come in!

Being part of the literal core of your body, it continues to amaze me that people are not educated on what their floor is, does, or how to condition it beyond doing a thousand kegels at a stop light. We need to give ourselves (and our bodies) way more credit. Beyond Kegels will lay the groundwork you need to start taking charge of your pelvic health, whether you've owned a vagina for 18 or 80 years. It's never too early or too late to start learning how to condition one of the most important parts of your body.

Upon completion of this course you will:

  • Learn how to recognize the signs of whether your floor is weak or tight (or a combo of both!), and the first steps to take to give it the TLC it needs

  • Feel confident and informed when discussing your pelvic health with your healthcare team

  • Become powerful AF in knowing your options instead of accepting band-aide fixes like pads for life, sitting out on your favorite activities, and surgery

  • Understand the ins and outs of your body (literally)

  • Learn basic exercises to get you started on your pelvic health journey (and it goes way beyond kegels!)

So, what makes Beyond Kegels different from other pelvic floor courses?

One of the things I found when putting on workshops and events was that there is still a lot of shame surrounding our vaginal and vulvar health (sometimes I forget that I do this for a living, so while I'm screaming things from the rooftops, many people are not comfortable doing the same). As a result, even though I knew there was a need, many people would not sign up for these events due to embarrassment.

And because I understand how shame and the nervous system affect the pelvic floor, I wanted this information to be as accessible to anyone who needs it but isn't yet ready to ask outright. One of my main goals is to remove shame from not only our bodies but from seeking information revolving around some not-so-pretty topics: and I want to help you do this in a way that makes sense for you.

This course also is unlike other pelvic health workshops because I'm not going to throw a ton of kegels and bridges and ball squeezes at you: I'm going to give you things that will actually matter and, by the end of our time together,  you'll know exactly why they matter. The more of an active participant you are in every aspect of life, the better that quality of life will be. Promise!

Dr. Mel is a licensed physical therapist specializing in orthopedics and women's pelvic floor dysfunction. Known for her outspoken and unapologetic ways of expression, Dr. Mel is passionate about lending a voice to all folks with vaginas who have been left unheard and unseen by the medical world. She believes that with better education and community outreach, more people will be able to enjoy their lives to the fullest extent instead of sitting on the sidelines, watching them go by. We don't have time for putting up and shutting up around here!

What you'll get from this virtual course:

  • Learning WTF the pelvic floor is and what it does: The first step to owning your body is learning what it is and what it does. Most pelvic floor issues go untreated because people do not even know what parts of their bodies actually do. We end that here and now.

  • Kegeling 101: Would kegels benefit you? How do you even kegel correctly? The mistakes that 99% of clients make when it comes to kegels.

  • Top 3 Exercises I Give to Clients: I know, we are not all created equally: however, there are certain things that all of us would benefit from when it comes to exercise...and these 3 moves are a good place to start!

Who is this course for?

  • People who've been led to believe that kegels are the only exercise we can do for the pelvic floor

  • People who suspect they may have a pelvic floor issue and aren't sure if they should ask for help/don't know whether they're "beyond help"

  • People who do not have a pelvic floor issue but want to learn how to prevent one from happening

  • Postpartum people (no matter how many years postpartum!)

  • Pregnant/formerly pregnant people

  • People who are thinking of getting pregnant

  • People who never plan on getting pregnant and wonder why pelvic floor conditioning pertains to them (and it does)

  • People who have a vagina

**Please keep in mind, if you have questions about any of the material, I cannot answer any personal medical questions, as I have not formally evaluated you. This course is not meant to diagnose or treat any specific condition and is meant to be taken as general education and exercise information**
